Home My WebLink About~Master - Contract for Emergency Utility Repair and Other Services for Various City Departments RESOLUTION NO.22-352 RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT FOR EMERGENCY UTILITY REPAIR AND OTHER SERVICES FOR VARIOUS CITY DEPARTMENTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,repair of the City's public utilities can require larger or more specialized equipment and additional labor than what is available from the responding City departments; and, WHEREAS, during these times, it is necessary to respond quickly to restore the utility's level of service and protect life and property, and local contractors can provide these services at a better cost to the City of Ames; and, WHEREAS, the Purchasing Policy requires sealed bids to pre-arrange contractor services to be available on an"on-call"basis; and, WHEREAS,a bid package was assembled seeking hourly rates for various services that are utilized by several City departments during emergency and unplanned events and these included events such as:water main breaks, storm sewer damage or collapse, sanitary sewer damage or collapse, and buried electric line failures; and, WHEREAS, the bid package established rates for a 12-month period with two optional 12-month renewals; and, WHEREAS,three bids were received on June 17, 2022; and, WHEREAS,because the City-wide total for these emergency and unplanned work among the various City departments typically exceeds $60,000 annually, City Council approval is required; and, WHEREAS, the actual amounts paid will be based on invoices received for services actually provided during the course of the contract,and the service will be billed to the appropriate City department's operating budget. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the Emergency Utility Repair and Other Services Contract with Ames Trenching and Excavating,ofAmes,Iowa from date of award through April 1,2023, is hereby approved.
