HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Contract for Renewal for Specialized Wet Dry Vacuum, Hydro Blast, and Related Cleaning Services for the Power Plant RESOLUTION NO.22-312 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR SPECIALIZED WET DRY VACUUM, HYDRO BLAST,AND RELATED CLEANING SERVICES FOR THE POWER PLANT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City's Power Plant has two natural gas-fired, high-pressure steam turbine electric generating units, which are referred to as Units No. 7 and 8, and these units require regular professional maintenance and repair; and, WHEREAS,this work consists of regularly planned repairs and services during scheduled outages,as well as emergency service,and the cleaning and special preparation of the boiler surfaces on these generation units requires professional tradecrafts and maintenance experts; and, WHEREAS, both Units operate under environmental conditions with high heat and high pressure, resulting in slag and other industrial debris coating the boiler and other Plant equipment surfaces; and, WHEREAS, prior to repair and maintenance work, it is necessary to have the surfaces professional cleaned using high-pressure water jets and vacuums; and, WHEREAS,in order to clean the surfaces,outside contractors are used who can provide mobile high- pressure generator trucks with hoses and lances to cut through and wash away the industrial debris coatings;and, WHEREAS,on June 12,2018,City Council awarded a contract to HTH Companies ofUnion,Missouri, to provide these services; and, WHEREAS,the contract allows the City to renew the contract for up to four additional one-year terms and this would be the fourth of four optional terms; and, WHEREAS,the bid from HTH Companies,Inc.,included increases of 2%per year for labor,travel and subsistence,and for equipment and tools; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract renewal with HTH Companies,Inc.,of Union,Missouri,for the Specialized Wet Dry Vacuum,Hydro Blast,and Related Cleaning Services for the Power Plant,from July 1,2022 through June 30,2023,for hourly rates and unit prices bid,in an amount not to exceed$285,000 is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 14'day of June,2022.
