RESOLUTION APPROVING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR MENTAL HEALTH
FIRST AID TRAINING PROVIDED DURING THE FY 2021/22 MENTAL HEALTH
WELLNESS, RECOVERY, AND RESILIENCY INITIATIVE
IN THE AMOUNT OF $421 FROM COUNCIL CONTINGENCY
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, at its April 27, 2021, City Council approved directing staff to develop an
initiative supporting Mental Health Wellness, Recovery, and Resiliency; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the initiative was to raise awareness and support mental health
needs in our community by providing opportunities that offered education,training,and resources;
and,
WHEREAS,the initiative included partnerships with Iowa State University and local mental
health and disability agencies; and,
WHEREAS,the initiative spanned from May through September,and the Council approved
up to $5,000 from the Council Contingency account to help cover costs associated with education
and training offerings(workbooks,trainer fees,advertising,supplies,etc.)and directed staff to come
back to Council to request additional funds; and,
WHEREAS,an additional amount of$421 in funding is needed based on the large attendance
experienced at the First Aid Mental Health Training held in August 2021.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the $421 in additional funding from the Council Contingency Account for the Mental Health
Wellness, Recovery, and Resiliency initiative is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 14`h day of June, 2022.
