Re: Public Hearin on application for a Special Home Occupation Permit

Applicant: Kyle Thompson
Subject Property: 4630 Twain Street
Hearing Date: October 28, 2015
Dear Members of Zoning Board of Adjustment:
I'm writing in opposition to Kyle Thompson's application for a Special Home Occupation
Permit to allow a reptile breeding and sales business on the property located at 4630
Twain Street. I oppose this application for the same reasons that I opposed his
application in July 2014.
• 1 oppose all home businesses in general because of their potential to increase
additional traffic and parking congestion in our neighborhood.
• 1 oppose a reptile breeding and sales business in particular because of the negative
impact a snake farm could have on my property values. Because many people have
a fear of snakes, if I decided to sell or rent my property, I would have a harder time
doing so whenever a potential buyer or renter learns that a snake farm is located
near by.
• 1 also have a personal fear of snakes. I realize that the applicant is already breeding
snakes as a hobbit. My concern is the possibility of snakes escaping. With a hobby, it
is reasonable to expect that the cost of the hobby limits the number of snakes that
can be bred. With a snake farm business, the number of snakes that could be bred
can dramatically increase. The increased number of snakes that can be bred
increases the chances of snakes escaping.
Thank you for considering my concerns when you decide on this application.
Sincerely,
Rodrick Eldridge
