RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF FOUR METERED PARKING SPACES
FOR CARRIAGE RIDES DURING SNOW MAGIC EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, Ames Main Street plans to host its Snow Magic Celebration from December
2, 2022, through December 24, 2022; the event will kick off on December 2 with the tree lighting
ceremony, open houses, and horse-drawn carriage rides; and,
WHEREAS,to facilitate this event,the organizers have requested the closure of four metered
parking spaces within Downtown on December 2 (from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.) for pick-up and
drop-off of passengers on horse-drawn carriage rides through the Downtown; and,
WHEREAS, Snow Magic provides an opportunity to draw residents and visitors to the
Downtown, and the event supports local businesses during the holiday shopping season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the closure of four metered parking spaces within Downtown for the Snow Magic's horse and
carriage rides on December 2, 2022, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 26t' day of April, 2022.
