Smart Choice May 29, 2015 Clint and Jan Petersen 2957 Monroe Drive Ames, IA 50010 RE: Variance request (ZBA-15-10) Dear Clint and Jan: I am pleased to report that the Zoning Board of Adjustment approved your request for a variance to allow an addition to the attached garage that would encroach into the required setback. The Board approved a variance allowing you to build within one foot of the side lot line to the north with the following conditions. a) The homeowner must locate the property pins and mark the property line and proposed location of the addition to the attached garage and driveway to the satisfaction of City staff. b) The homeowner must remove the landscaping and restore that area to turf if it is determined that it is on park property. c) The homeowner must ensure that no vehicles or equipment enter park property at any time and that there be no storage of materials on park property. d) Any expense to locate property lines shall be at the homeowner's expense. Once you have determined the location of the property line, please contact me. A representative from this office and from the Parks and Recreation Department will visit the site. Once we are satisfied as to the location, we will allow the Inspections Division to issue the required building permit. You will need to ensure that the location of the property line is obvious during the entire time of construction so that your contractor is aware of it and will not encroach into city property. You will receive the official Decision and Order from the City Attorney's office in the near future. Anyone who wishes to appeal the decision has 30 days from the release of Planning and Housing Department 515.239.5400 ,,,,i. 515 Clark Ave.P.O.Box 811 515.239.5404 f Ames,IA 50010 www.CitycfA.mes org that Decision and Order to file a claim in District Court.
