HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Contract and Bond for Construction of 2021/22 Downtown Street Pavement Restoration - Alley (Duff Avenue to Sherman Avenue) RESOLUTION NO. 22-115 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2021/22 DOWNTOWN STREET PAVEMENT RESTORATION-ALLEY (DUFF AVENUE TO SHERMAN AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2021/22 Downtown Street Pavement Improvements - Alley(Duff Avenue to Sherman Avenue); and, pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 16th day of February,2022,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 19th day of January, 2022; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct,Inc.,of Ames,Iowa, in the amount of$127,952 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa,and Con-Struct,Inc., of Ames, Iowa,in the amount of$127,952 dated the 22"d day of February, 2022, for the 2021/22 Downtown Street Pavement Improvements-Alley(Duff Avenue to Sherman Avenue)as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$127,952 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 81h day of March, 2022. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk John A.
