HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Suspension of Parking Regulations ain CBD Parking Lots X and Y for Ames Main Street Farmers' Market RESOLUTION NO. 22-085 RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF PARKING REGULATIONS IN CBD PARKING LOTS X AND Y FOR AMES MAIN STREET FARMERS' MARKET FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Ames Chamber of Commerce is planning to host the annual Ames Main Street Farmers'Market this summer,which will take place in the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street and on Burnett Avenue from Main Street to the U.S. Bank drive-through; and, WHEREAS, the Market will operate on Saturdays from May 7 through October 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,to facilitate the Market,organizers have requested that the two-and four-hour limits on parking in CBD Parking Lots X and Y be waived during Market hours; and, WHEREAS, additionally, 75 metered parking spaces will be closed for 4.5 metered hours each day the Market operates; and, WHEREAS, the Main Street Farmers' Market has successfully attracted visitors to Ames Main Street for the last several years, and it has become a signature event in Ames, enhancing the local economy and providing a family-friendly activity that showcases the Ames community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to suspend parking regulations in CBD Parking Lots X and Y from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.for the Main Street Farmers'Market on Saturdays from May 7,2022,through October 15, 2022, is hereby approved.
