HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendment to the Governmental 28E Agreement for Combined Law Enforcement Investigations of Controlled Substances RESOLUTION NO. 22-058 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AMENDMENT TO THE GOVERNMENTAL 28E AGREEMENT FOR COMBINED LAW ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATIONS OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City is a party to a 28E Intergovernmental Agreement to participate in the Central Iowa Drug Task Force and this task force investigates crimes involving controlled substances,which often requires inter-agency cooperation; and, WHEREAS, the most recent Agreement, filed on July 27, 2018, involved a partnership among the Ames Police Department, Story County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State University Department of Public Safety, and the Boone Police Department; and, WHEREAS, the Boone County Sheriff's Office is now desiring to enter into the Intergovernmental Agreement; and, WHEREAS,City staff andthe otherpartners are supportive ofthis Amendmentto add Boone County Sheriff's Office to the Central Iowa Drug Task Force; and, WHEREAS, the addition will allow for further collaboration to facilitate investigations of controlled substances across jurisdictions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Amendment to the Governmental 28E Agreement for Combined Law Enforcement Investigations of Controlled Substance adding Boone County Sheriff's Office is hereby approved.
