HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and Bond Approval for 2021/22 Traffic Signal Program (University Blvd. & S. 4th Street) RESOLUTION NO. 22-040 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2021/22 TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROGRAM (UNIVERSITY BLVD. & S. 4'H ST.) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2021/22 Traffic Signal Program (University Blvd. & S. 4' St.) and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 19`h day of January, 2022, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 10`h day of December, 2021; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Voltmer,Inc.,of Decorah,Iowa, in the amount of$293,231.41 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa,and Voltmer,Inc.,of Decorah,Iowa,in the amount of$293,231.41 dated the 25th day of January, 2022, for the 2021/22 Traffic Signal Program (University Blvd. & S. 4th St.) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with Employers Mutual Casualty Company, an Iowa Corporation, of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$293,231.41 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 81h day of February, 2022. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk John A.
