HomeMy WebLinkAboutA21 LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! ISSUE: Request for a Conditional Use Permit for an alternate method of elevating apartment buildings in the Floodway Fringe at 1204 S. 4"' St. (just west of the existing Riverside Manor care facility). A public hearing by the Ames Zoning Board of Adjustment will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at City Hall Council Chambers, 7 p.m. The Ames planning and zoning department believes these elevated buildings will act like a levee to help alleviate flooding in our neighborhood. According to the flood mitigation study experts the city of Ames hired, a levee was not recommended for our area because it would make flooding worse! The location of these apartments poses many questions that have yet to be answered by the city of Ames. if you have questions now is the time to ask them! Please attend this meeting, because if this passes, then it goes right to the consent agenda at the next city council meeting without the possibility of citizen input or discussion. Please let all council members know how you feel, especially Gloria Becher, she is our precinct council representative. Let her know your concerns,, she can pull this item from the consent agenda for discussion at the council meeting.
