HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Commission On The Arts (COTA) Spring 2022 Special Grants RESOLUTION NO. 21-603 RESOLUTION APPROVING COMMISSION ON THE ARTS (COTA) SPRING 2022 SPECIAL GRANTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, on November 1, 2021, the Commission On The Arts (COTA) finalized its recommendations for the Spring 2022 Special Project Grant Program; and, WHEREAS, this year, due to a substantial one-time increase in funding authorized by the City Council for FY 2021/22 in light of the impact of COVID-19 on arts agencies,COTA increased its maximum Special Project Grant award from $1,000 to $3,000 per grant; and, WHEREAS,seven Grant request were received,totaling$17,040 in requests,and COTA has $15,341 in funding available for these Grants; and, WHEREAS, based upon the merits of the applications and the criteria established for the special grants, COTA recommended the following allocations: Ames Community Arts Council $3,000 (requested) $3,000 (recommended) Des Moines Metro Opera Guild-Ames Chapter $ 540 (requested) $ 540 (recommended) Octagon Center for the Arts $3,000 (requested) $3,000 (recommended) Story Theater Company $3,000 (requested) $2,660 (recommended) Story Theater Company $3,000 (requested) $3,000 (recommended) ACTORS $3,000(requested) $1,641 (recommended) Ames Town& Gown $1,500 (requested) $1,500(recommended) NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the COTA Special Grant Contracts to Ames Community Arts Council ($3,000), Des Moines Metro Opera Guild -Ames Chapter ($540), Octagon Center for the Arts ($3,000), Story Theater Company($2,660),Story Theater Company($3,000),ACTORS(1,641),and Ames Town&Gown ($1,500) are hereby approved.
