RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF
CYRIDE BATTERY ELECTRIC BUS CHARGING EQUIPMENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, to operate CyRide's two new battery electric buses that are due to arrive in the
summer of 2022,CyRide will need to equip the building with specialized bus charging equipment;and,
WHEREAS, the equipment required includes a centralized charging unit and two vehicle
dispensers; and,
WHEREAS,depot charging equipment was included in the original battery electric bus project
budget, and is included in the Capital Improvements Plan; and,
WHEREAS, on September 27, 2021, CyRide staff, in coordination with the Purchasing
Department, issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) asking vendors to submit information on battery
electric bus charges and associated equipment; and,
WHEREAS, three responses were received and scored by CyRide staff, and determined the
proposal from Siemens Industry Inc., of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, offered the best overall value for
CyRide; and
WHEREAS, the RFP was for charging hardware only, and if this purchase is approved by
Council,an additional procurement will be released for installation and construction services to install
the equipment at the CyRide facility; and,
WHEREAS, the Transit Board of Trustees approved the award of the Contract to Siemens
Industry at is November 10, 2021,meeting.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that
the award of Contract to Siemens Industry Inc., of Buffalo Grove, Illinois for the purchase of CyRide
Battery Electric Bus Charging Equipment in the amount of$96,000 is hereby approved.
