HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and Bond for Construction of Ioway Creek Restoration and Flood Mitigation Project RESOLUTION NO. 21-572 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF IOWAY CREEK RESTORATION AND FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa, such project having been designated as the Ioway Creek Restoration and Flood Mitigation Project;and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 3rd day of November, 2021, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 28th day of September, 2021; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Keller Excavating, Inc., of Boone, Iowa, in the amount of$3,327,523.50 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Keller Excavating, Inc., of Boone, Iowa, in the amount of$3,327,523.50 dated the 9th day of November, 2021, for the Ioway Creek Restoration and Flood Mitigation Project as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with United Fire & Casualty Company, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$3,327,523.50 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 91h day of November, 2021. r Diane R.
