HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendment to Financial Assistance Award through the Economic Developoment Administration for Prairie View Industrial Extension RESOLUTION NO. 21-514 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD THROUGH THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION FOR PRAIRIE VIEW INDUSTRIAL UTILITY EXTENSION FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the Prairie View Industrial Utility Extension Project consists of the extension of water and sanitary sewer to the recently annexed area east of Interstate 35 (I-35); and, WHEREAS,water main and gravity sewer will be installed between I-35 and Teller Avenue(formerly 580t''),force sewer main will be installed from Teller Avenue to west of Freel Drive,and a sewer lift station will be constructed; and, WHEREAS,most of this new area has been certified by the Iowa Economic Development Authority as the Prairie View Industrial Center; and, WHEREAS, City staff, in partnership with the Ames Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development staff, applied for a Federal Economic Development Grant toward this Project; and, WHEREAS, the Grant had been awarded in the amount of $1.5 million from the Economic Development Administration(EDA); and, WHEREAS,Stanley Consultants had prepared the plans and specifications with an estimated base bid cost of$5,344,695,and this was the project cost used in the original EDA Financial Assistance Award,which was then used to calculate the EDA's matching grant rate of 28%; and, WHEREAS,the low bid for the project came in at$6,168,792 and was awarded to Keller Excavating, of Boone, Iowa; and, WHEREAS,the Grant amount will remain unchanged at$1.5 million;however,the EDA has requested an Amendment to the Financial Assistance Award revising the matching rate to 24.32%to reflect the low bid amount. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Amendment to the Financial Assistance Award through the Economic Development Administration for the Prairie View Industrial Utility Extension is hereby approved.
