HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and Bond for Construction of the Prairie View Industrial Center Utility Extension Project RESOLUTION NO. 21-430 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PRAIRIE VIEW INDUSTRIAL CENTER UTILITY EXTENSION PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the Prairie View Center Utility Extension Project; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 9' day of June, 2021, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 1Od'day of May, 2021; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Keller Excavating, Inc., of Boone, Iowa, in the amount of$6,168,791.40 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Keller Excavating, Inc., of Boone, Iowa, in the amount of $6,168,791.40 dated the 22"d day of June, 2021, for the Prairie View Industrial Center Utility Extension Project as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with United Fire & Casualty Company, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$6,168,791.40 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 27d'day of July, 2021. r Diane R. Voss, City Clerk John A.
