Dear John:
Thank you for submitting the application for a Variance for a garage at 721 Douglas Avenue in
Ames. The City of Ames Planning and Housing Department is pleased to assist where we can on
this project.
We have reviewed the materials you submitted on April 9, 2014 and have accepted the
application for review. I have to note, though, that the dimensions of the garage result in a 900
square foot garage which appears to exceed the 25 percent maximum coverage of the rear yard.
You may wish to address this by submitting a revised site plan or another variance application.
After this application is reviewed by staff, we will work to place this on the earliest agenda of
the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
