RESOLUTION SETTING THE DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING
GRANTING EASEMENT FOR A GAS PIPELINE FROM THE RIGHT-OF-WAY AT
THE INTERSECTION OF E. 13TH STREET AND MAXWELL STREET SOUTH FOR 40
FEET ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF MAXWELL STREET
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, City staff had received a request from Interstate Light and Power Company
(IPL),an Iowa Corporation,for a permanent easement on City property at the southeast corner of 13'
Street and Maxwell Avenue, adjacent to the Ames Municipal Cemetery; and,
WHEREAS, the reason for the easement is to install a new underground gas pipeline; and,
WHEREAS,the City would be granting a 3'x 40'easement to Interstate Power&Light for
a gas pipeline from the right-of-way at the intersection of E. 13th Street and Maxwell Streets, south
for 40 feet along the east side of Maxwell Street; and,
WHEREAS,the requested area is approximately 120 square feet(SF)in size and is currently
maintained by City staff as part of the maintenance of the Cemetery.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the date of public hearing on June 22,2021,regarding granting an Easement to Interstate Power
& Light for a gas pipeline from the right-of-way at the intersection of E. 13t' Street and Maxwell
Street south for 40 feet along the east side of Maxwell Street is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 15th day of June, 2021.
