RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
CITY ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the City
Access Control System;and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the loth day of February,
2021,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Fleet&Facilities Department
and filed with the City Clerk on the 8th day of January, 2021; and,
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Commonwealth Electric
Company of the Midwest, of Des Moines, Iowa, in the amount of$644,276 is the lowest and best bid
submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Commonwealth Electric Company
of the Midwest, of Des Moines, Iowa, in the amount of$644,276 dated the 23rd day of March,
2021, for the City Access Control System as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications
referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with Universal
Surety Company, of Lincoln, Nebraska, as surety thereon, in the amount of $644,276 filed in
connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 13th day of April, 2021.
