HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Usage of Electricity and Waiver of Costs for Summerfest in Campustown RESOLUTION NO. 21-164 RESOLUTION APPROVING USAGE OF ELECTRICITY AND WAIVER OF COSTS FOR SUMMERFEST IN CAMPUSTOWN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) plans to hold its 1ltb annual Summerfest on June 5, 2021; and, WHEREAS, the event involves activities for children, live music, and a beer garden; and, WHEREAS, organizers are requesting access to City-owned electric outlets and waiver of fees for electricity use; and, WHEREAS, organizers will obtain a noise permit through the Police Department, and the CAA will contact affected businesses by going door-to-door,distributing flyers,and through e-mail contacts; and, WHEREAS,City staff has not evaluated this event against the COVID-19 criteria that were used throughout most of 2020 to evaluate Special Events,and it may be difficult to do so,given the uncertainty about the state of public health measures several months from now. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request from the Campustown Action Associations to use City-owned electrical outlets for Summerfest in Campustown on June 5, 2021, is hereby approved, and waiver of the costs for electricity usage is hereby further approved.
