HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Waiver of Parking Meter Fees for Summerfest in Campustown RESOLUTION NO. 21-163 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES FOR SUMMERFEST IN CAMPUSTOWN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) plans to hold its II' annual Summerfest on June 5, 2021; and, WHEREAS, the event involves activities for children, live music, and a beer garden; and, WHEREAS, organizers are requesting the waiver of parking meter fees and enforcement for the area,which would be a$120.75 loss to the Parking Fund; and, WHEREAS,the Council's policy regarding parking waivers is to consider requests such as this one on a case-by-case basis, as opposed to requiring reimbursement for lost parking revenue; and, WHEREAS,lost parking revenue is only required to be reimbursed under this Policy when the parking waiver is District-wide; and, WHEREAS,organizers will obtain a noise permit through the Police Department,and the CAA will contact affected businesses by going door-to-door,distributing flyers,and through e-mail contacts; and, WHEREAS, City staff has not evaluated this event against the COVID-19 criteria that were used throughout most of 2020 to evaluate Special Events, and it may be difficult to do so, given the uncertainty about the state of public health measures several months from now. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the request from Campustown Action Association to waive the parking meter fees and enforcement during Summerfest in Campustown on June 6, 2021, is hereby approved.
