HomeMy WebLinkAboutA4 Dear Zoning Board Members, Due to work and family responsibilities we are unable to attend the July 25 h board meeting. Please accept this letter as our statement for the application for the `Special Home Occupation Permit' for Deb Kline at 1910 George Allen Avenue. While we appreciate Ms. Kline's responsible business plan including the application for the permit for a home business we do have concerns with a home business being located next door in our residential neighborhood. We moved to this home in the spring of 2011 and chose this neighborhood for very specific reasons. We were looking for a strictly residential neighborhood and deliberately were not seeking to move to a mixed use neighborhood. As parents of a young daughter we located a home on a quiet residential street where we felt our daughter would be able to play outside without the fear of unknown traffic from a business. George Allen Avenue is an extremely quiet street where the vast majority of traffic is from either people living on the street or their friends/family visiting. Although the entrance for the golf course is located on the north end of George Allen Avenue, traffic to and from the golf course typically route onto 20"" Street. There is very little traffic on George Allen Avenue and since many times businesses do grow, there is no way to calculate the impact the future of this business will have on this quiet street. We are concerned if this permit is granted the probability to reverse this decision, if the business is disruptive to the neighborhood, would be very low. We appreciate the investment of owning one's own business but we also appreciate this neighborhood where we are able to relax outside without the impact of a business. Sincerely, Q L IE Andy and Lisa Bates J U L 2 5 2012 CITY CLERK CITY OF AWES,IOWA
