HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Federal-Aid Swap Funding Agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for E. 13th Street Reconstruction Project RESOLUTION NO. 21-038 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BLOCK GRANT (STBG) FEDERAL-AID SWAP FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR E. 13TH STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a grant in the amount of$1,600,000 through the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) for the 2020/21 Arterial Street Improvements E. 13th Street (Duff Avenue to Meadowlane Avenue); and, WHEREAS,the Agreement is through the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program Federal- Aid Swap to help fund transportation improvement projects on streets and highways in Iowa; and, WHEREAS, the Capital Improvement Plan identifies E. 13th Street from Duff Avenue to Meadowlane Avenue as an arterial street in need of restoration of structural integrity, serviceability,and rideability; and, WHEREAS, improving the street will reduce maintenance costs and allow for additional and earlier maintenance of other streets; and, WHEREAS, the project will also include replacing the existing water main along the north and south sides of E. 13th Street with a new larger water system to loop this part of the community and improve reliability and fire protection; and, WHEREAS, this project will have a bid letting through the Iowa DOT and a local match of 20 percent of eligible project costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Surface Transportation Block Grant(STBG) Federal-Aid Swap Funding Agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the E. 13th Street Reconstruction project in the amount of$1,600,000 is hereby approved.
