I was able to confirm that the three conditions that needed to be affirmed prior to you operating your business have been met.Specifically, you have a secure gun safe as required by Condition Number 6; you have received your Federal Firearms License as required by Condition Number 7;and you will be keeping a log of customer appointments and gun transfers as required by Condition Number 8.You will be required to maintain compliance with all of the conditions of the Board as noted in the Decision and Order signed by the Board Chair and Secretary. Based on this evaluation, you are free to commence the operation of your business. Please be aware, though, that the Board approved the special home occupation for one year. The one year period began on May 7,2012—the day that the Decision and Order was filed with the City Clerk and a copy provided to you. In addition, the City Council is considering changes to the Zoning Ordinance regarding home occupations. If approved, the ordinance would specifically prohibit firearm sales as a home occupation. You would be able to continue your business through the one year approval period but you would not be able to renew it. The City Council is conducting a Public Hearing on this item on Tuesday, September 25,2012 at 7:00 PM. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 239-5400.
