HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Reallocation of $19,000 from the Savings in the 2018/19 Signal Program to the 2019/20 Traffic Signal Program (Lincoln Way/Beach Avenue) RESOLUTION NO. 20-647 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE REALLOCATION OF $19,000 FROM THE SAVINGS IN THE 2018/19 SIGNAL PROGRAM TO THE 2019/20 TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROGRAM (LINCOLN WAY/BEACH AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the Traffic Signal Program is the annual program that provides for replacing older traffic signals and constructing new traffic signals in the City, which will result in improved visibility, reliability, and appearance of signals; and, WHEREAS,the program provides the upgrading of the traffic signal system technology;and, WHEREAS,traffic signal replacements have included video detection systems instead of in- pavement loop detection systems that have previously been used and were frequently a point of failure; and, WHEREAS, another advantage of the video-based system is that it detects bicycles in addition to vehicles; and, WHEREAS, in order to move forward with the 2019/20 Traffic Signal Program (Lincoln Way/Beach Avenue) a reallocation of$19,000 from the savings in the 2018/19 Signal Program to this project is needed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the reallocation of$19,000 from the savings in the 2018/19 Traffic Signal Program to the 2019/20 Traffic Signal Program (Lincoln Way/Beach Avenue) is hereby approved.
