RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR ELECTRICAL
MAINTENANCE SERVICES CONTRACT FOR POWER PLANT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,the contract consists ofregular professional maintenance andrepairto numerous
breakers, relays, and electrical circuits location Plant-wide; and,
WHEREAS, the work includes emergency service as well as regularly planned repairs and
services during scheduled outages; and,
WHEREAS,on May 22,2018,City Council awarded a contract to Tri-City Electric Company
of Iowa of Davenport,Iowa,to provide electrical maintenance services for the Power Plant from July
1, 2018, through June 30, 2019; and,
WHEREAS,this contract allows the City to renew the contract for up to four additional one-
year terms, and this is the second of the four renewal options; and,
WHEREAS,the bid from Tri-City Electric Company of Iowa included increases of 3%per
year for labor, travel, and subsistence rates for the renewal terms; and,
WHEREAS, the approved FY 2020/21 operating budget for Electric Production includes
$140,000 for relay and breaker maintenance, and invoices will be based on contract rates for time
and materials for services actually received.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the contract renewal with Tri-City Electric Company of Iowa of Davenport, Iowa, for the
Electrical Maintenance Services Contract for the Power Plant, for hourly rates and unit prices bid,
in an amount not-to-exceed$140,000 is hereby approved for the period of July 1,2020,through June
30, 2021.
