Home My WebLink About~Master - Approving Contract and Bond for Construction of 2019/20 Asphalt Street Pavement Improvements (14th and 15th Street) RESOLUTION NO. 20-273 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2019/20 ASPHALT STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS (14TH AND 15TH STREET) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2019/20 Asphalt Street Pavement Improvements(14th and 15th Street);and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 18th day of March, 2020, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 24th day of February, 2020; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Manatt's Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$774,662 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and Manatt's Inc.,of Ames,Iowa,in the amount of$774,662 dated the 12th day of May, 2020, for the 2019/20 Asphalt Street Pavement Improvements(14th and 15th Street)as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$774,662 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 26th day of May, 2020. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk John A.
