Home My WebLink About~Master - Approving Contract and Bond for Construction of Boiler Tube Spray Coating and Related Services and Supply RESOLUTION NO. 20-235 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BOILER TUBE SPRAY COATING AND RELATED SERVICES AND SUPPLY FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the Boiler Tube Spray Coating and Related Services and Supply; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the l lth day of March, 2020, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Electric Services Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 10th day of February, 2019; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Whertec,Inc.,of Jacksonville, Florida, Iowa, in the amount not to exceed$350,000 for FY 2019/20 and$200,000 for FY 2020/21 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Whertec, Inc., of Jacksonville, Florida in an amount not to exceed $350,000 and $200,000 for FY 2020/21 dated the 28th day of April,2020,for the Boiler Tube Spray Coating and Related Services and Supply as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America of Hartford, Connecticut,as surety thereon,in the amount of$550,000 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 12th day of May, 2020. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk John A.
