RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR
CUSTODIAL SERVICES AT THE AMES PUBLIC LIBRARY
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,all cleaning and custodial services for the Ames Public Library are provided by
a third-party professional cleaning service; and,
WHEREAS,on May 28,2019,the City Council awarded a contract to ABM of Des Moines,
Iowa, to provide custodial services for the Ames Public Library for the period of July 1, 2019,
through June 30, 2020; and,
WHEREAS, ABM indicated that the hourly rate would be $16.65/hour for the original
contract period, and the contract also included four optional renewal periods; and,
WHEREAS,the period from July 1,2020,through June 30,2021, is the first of four option
renewal periods; and,
WHEREAS, ABM indicated that the hourly rate would remain at $16.65/hour for this
renewal period; and,
WHEREAS,library staff estimates 5,436 hours of cleaning services for this renewal period,
making the contract total $90,509.40, and these hours are an estimate for budgeting purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the contract renewal with ABM of Des Moines, Iowa, for the FY 2020/21 Custodial Services
for the Ames Public Library in the estimated amount of$90,509.40 is hereby approved.
