HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Application for Grant Funding Under the 2020 Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Coronavirus Emergency Suppllemental Funding Program RESOLUTION NO.20-226 RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING UNDER THE 2020 DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS,BUREAU OF JUSTICE CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,on March 30,2020,the Ames Police Department received a notice that it is eligible for Grant funds through the 2020 Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program Solicitation FY 2020 Formula Grant Solicitation; and, WHEREAS, applications are due no later than May 29, 2020, and Grant funds can be used for agency initiatives to prevent,prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus; and, WHEREAS,allowable projects include equipment supplies,training,and other needs associated with the Coronavirus; and, WHEREAS,total funding potentially available to the Ames Police Department through the Grant offering is $41,009; and, WHEREAS,the Police Department plan for the COVID-19 virus grant includes personal protective equipment(PPE)for staff,cleaning ofboth public and employee spaces within the Department,and cleaning the vehicles and equipment; and, WHEREAS, in addition, funding is requested for signage and communication tools to assist in mitigation and enforcement; and, WHEREAS,the budgetary requests included in this Grant are based on early forecasts of how the COVID-19 pandemic may play out over the next 18-24 months,and if the initial forecast of equipment and supply utilization evolves, there may be more opportunity to adjust the grant budget to ensure useful equipment and supplies are obtained through this process; and, WHEREAS,no local match is required. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the ADOPTED THIS 12'h day of May, 2020. "A Diane R.Voss, City Clerk o n A.
