RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON
VACATING INGRESS-EGRESS EASEMENT AT 2500 SE 16TH STREET
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Ames received a letter from James Bergkamp Jr., who represents Van Wall
Equipment Inc.,the current owners of the property at 2500 SE 16t'Street,wishing to purchase the adjacent property
at 2400 SE 16' Street and combine both of the lots for future development;and,
WHEREAS,in order to facilitate the sale and development of those lots the vacation of an existing ingress-
egress easement across the property at 2500 SE 16' Street needs to occur;and,
WHEREAS,the easement was granted to the City in 1987 to provide access from South Dayton Avenue to
2600 SE 16t' Street(Econo Lodge Hotel),and at that time,Southeast 16'Street was gravel,and this provided paved
access for their guests;and,
WHEREAS, Southeast 16' Street is now paved, and Econo Lodge has full access from their driveway on
Southeast 16`h Street; and,
WHEREAS, staff contacted the property owner's representative in this matter,and with the consent of the
owners of both impacted properties,the vacation of this easement is recommend for approval.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the date of
public hearing for May 12,2020,for vacation of the Ingress-Egress Easement at 25000 Southeast 16'Street is hereby
approved.
ADOPTED THIS 28t'day of April,2020.
