RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
CAMPUSTOWN PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS (WELCH AVENUE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
Campustown Public Improvements Project(Welch Avenue);and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were
received on the 18th day of March, 2020, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared
by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 25th day of February, 2020; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct,Inc.,of Ames,Iowa,
in the amount of $2,081,067 for the base bid and $69,000 for Alternate 2 is the lowest and best bid
submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames,Iowa, and Con-Struct,Inc., of Ames, Iowa in
the amount of$2,081,067 for the base bid and$69,000 for Alternate 2 dated the 24th day of March,
2020, for the Campustown Public Improvements Project (Welch Avenue) as provided for in the
detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of
the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety
thereon,in the total amount of$2,150,067 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby
approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
