HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving 2020 Neighborhood Art Aquisitions RESOLUTION NO. 20-155 RESOLUTION APPROVING 2020 NEIGHBORHOOD ART ACQUISITIONS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on March 4, 2020, the Public Art Commission (PAC) approved a recommendation to pursue accession of four sculptures for the Neighborhood Art Program with the total acquisition cost of the four pieces to be $23,225; and, WHEREAS, the PAC is recommending that the Council authorize the purchase of four sculptures for the Neighborhood Art Program; and, WHEREAS,the"Spikey Smooth" sculpture by Mike Sneller is to be purchased for$5,000 and will be placed at the intersection of South Dakota and Cochrane Parkway, and, WHEREAS, the second sculpture recommended for purchase was "Dance #nowaste" a sculpture by Gail Chavenelle in the amount of$7,225 and will be placed along South Duff with the final location worked out with Vison Bank outside of the DOT right-of-way; and, WHEREAS, the third sculpture that was recommended for purchase is "Loop" by Mike Sneller for$7,000 and will be placed at the Hunziker Youth Sports Complex; and, WHEREAS,the"Monolith"sculpture will be purchased for$4,000 and will be placed in the roundabout at South University Boulevard and Cottonwood Road. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the 2020 Neighborhood Art Acquisitions are hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 14`h day of April, 2020. Diane R.
