HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Contract for CyRide Battery Electric Bus Consulting Services RESOLUTION NO. 20-136 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT FOR CYRIDE BATTERY ELECTRIC BUS CONSULTING SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, in June 2018, CyRide issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for consulting services to help the agency develop a strategy for introducing battery electric buses into the fleet; and, WHEREAS,two firms submitted responses to the RFP and the Center for Transportation and the Environment(CTE) was determined to be the most qualified firm through an evaluation of its qualifications; and, WHEREAS, CTE presented a deployment roadmap to the Ames Transit Board of Trustees in February 2019 and assisted staff with applying for a grant to purchase two electric buses; and, WHEREAS, in July 2019, it was announced that CyRide would be awarded a$1.6 million Low-No Grant to purchase the buses, and the battery electric bus project is listed in the FY 2019- 20204 Capital Improvement Projects (CIP); and, WHEREAS,the awarded grant will pay for 80%of any consulting fees for the project;and, WHEREAS, CTE has proposed a fee of$145,00 to accomplish the next series of tasks for deploying electric buses in Ames,and these tasks range from developing specifications and assisting with the procurement of the buses to evaluating the performance of the buses once they are in service; and, WHEREAS,the Ames Transit Board approved using CTE for additional consulting services when the battery electric bus project and budget were approved in April 2019; and, WHEREAS,the total battery electric bus project cost is$2,137,900,and the bulk of the cost associated with the project will be used to pay for two battery electric buses and modifications to CyRide's facility; and, WHEREAS, CyRide has accumulated the local match for the entire battery electric bus project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract for the battery electric bus consulting services with the Center for Transportation and the Environments of Atlanta, GA, in an amount not-to-exceed $145,000 is hereby approved.
