RESOLUTION NO. 19-633
RESOLUTION APPROVING VACATION OF WATER MAIN EASEMENT ALONG THE
NORTH EDGE OF COLLABORATION PLACE RIGHT-OF-WAY
FROM PLAZA LOOP TO SOUTH RIVERSIDE DRIVE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, there is an existing water main easement along the north edge of the future
Collaboration Place corridor from University Boulevard to South Riverside Drive; and,
WHEREAS, the final plat for the Iowa State University Research Park, Phase 3, Fourth
Addition, was approved including an 80-foot-wide right-of-way for Collaboration Place from Plaza
Loop to South Riverside Drive; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Iowa Code Section 364.7, notice was given on November 26, 2019,
and a public hearing is being held regarding the proposal of the City to vacate the easement; and,
WHEREAS,vacation of the easement is in the best interest of the City.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AMES, IOWA THAT:
1. Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 364.7, publication of notice regarding the proposed
vacation of the public utility easement and establishing a public hearing date regarding the proposal has
been made.
2. The public hearing regarding the disposition of the property is hereby closed.
3. The 80-foot-wide right-of-way for Collaboration Place from Plaza Loop to South
Riverside Drive of the existing public utility easement across the following described land is hereby
vacated:
As described in the final plat of Iowa State University Research Park Phase III,First Addition, City of
Ames, Story County,Iowa:A strip 20.00 feet in width across Outlot Y of said Addition,being situated
10.00 feet on each side of the following described centerline: Commencing at the Southeast Corner of
an existing tract in the Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 22, Township 83 North,
Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., City of Ames, Story County, Iowa, as described in a Quit Claim Deed
filed as Inst.No.94-05359;thence S00°19'19"E, 179.19 feet along the East line of said Outlot Y thence
S89°40'41"W,33.00 feet to the West right-of-way line of S.Riverside Drive,and the point of beginning;
thence N90°00'00"W,42.00 feet to the beginning of a curve;thence westerly and southwesterly,377.14
feet along said curve having a radius of 628.00 feet, concave to the south, a central angle of 34°24'30"
and being subtended by a chord which bears S73°29'04"W, 371.50 feet;thence S56°16'49"W, 603.77
feet to the beginning of a curve;thence southwesterly and westerly,766.16 feet along the curve concave
to the north,having a radius of 822.00 feet,a central angle of 53'24'13"and being subtended by a chord
which bears S82°58'56"W, 738.73 feet to a point on the easterly line of Lot A, and there terminating.
