HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Letter dated March 22, 2013 from Danny Johnson —aCa`I '3 ,4` a,s March 22, 2013 Ames City Council City Hall 515 Clark Avenue Ames, IA 50010 Dear Ames City Council, Bella Homes is in the process of getting approval for the Bella Woods subdivision located directly east of South Squaw Valley. As president of the South Squaw Valley Association we would like to voice our opposition to the requirement to extend Mathews Road eastward to connect to Bella Woods. Connecting Mathews Road to the proposed subdivision will result in a significant increase in traffic on both Mathews and Valley Road, disrupting the quite streets and neighborhood currently enjoyed by the South Squaw Valley Residents and negatively impacting their property values. In addition, the higher traffic volume will increase the wear and tear on our roads, which in turn, will increase our maintenance and repair costs. Since we do not receive any state or county money or assistance to maintain and repair our roads, the increased repair costs resulting from the higher traffic volume will come directly out of the pockets of our South Squaw Valley residents. This is neither fair nor necessary. Thus, we respectfully ask that you do not require Mathews Road be connected to Bella Woods as you finalize approval of the subdivision. Sincerely, Danny J. Johnson South Squaw Valley Association President 5504 Valley Road Ames, IA 50014
