WHEREAS,the Board of Directors of the Ames Community School District (the
"District") has received a proposal to grant certain of its land to the City of Ames, Iowa for the
purpose of a public trail easement and a conservation easement. The easement areas are legally
described as follows:
PUBLIC TRAIL EASEMENT:
A strip of land of varying width across Lots 1 and 3, Ames Middle School 2003, Plat 3, in Section 8,Township 83
North, Range 24 West of the 51h P.M., City of Ames, Story County, Iowa, being described as follows:Commencing at
the interior corner on the West line of said Lot 3;thence N00°32'43"W, 94.22 feet along the West line thereof to the
point of beginning, marked as Point A on said Final Plat, which easement width is 15.00 feet, being situated 7.50 feet
on each side of the following described centerline:thence N65°50'03"E, 11.61 feet to the beginning of a curve
tangent to said line;thence northeasterly, easterly and southeasterly, 12.92 feet along the curve concave to the
south, having a radius of 10.00 feet, a central angle of 74°00'56"and being subtended by a chord which bears
S77°09'29"E, 12.04 feet;thence S40°09'01"E,tangent to said curve, 45.91 feet to the beginning of a curve;thence
southeasterly, 25.52 feet along said curve having a radius of 100.00 feet,concave to the southwest, a central angle
of 14'37'10"and being subtended by a chord which bears S33°50'12"E, 25.45 feet to a point of reverse curvature;
thence southeasterly 40.85 feet along said curve concave to the northeast having a radius of 60.00 feet, a central
angle of 39°00'49"and being subtended by a chord which bears S46°02'01"E, 40.07 feet to the westerly line of
Dotson Drive, marked as Point B on said Final Plat;
And,
Beginning at a point on the easterly line of Dotson Drive, marked as Point C on said Final Plat, said point being 66.18
feet, S64037'42"E of said Point B, said point also being the beginning of a curve;thence southeasterly, 39.99 feet
along the curve,concave to the southwest, having a radius of 100.00 feet, a central angle of 22°54'42"and being
subtended by a chord which bears S55°29'07"E,39.72 feet to a point of reverse curvature;thence southeasterly and
easterly 48.10 feet along said curve, concave to the northeast, having a radius of 100.00 feet, a central angle of
27°33'39"and being subtended by a chord which bears S57°48'36"E,47.64 feet;thence S71°23'28"E, 76.87 feet to
Point D, as marked on said Final plat;thence
N05054'53"E, 69.29 feet to a point on the centerline of an existing public trail easement, and there terminating;
together with the areas contained within the 15.00 foot radius on the North line of the trail easement boundary and
the 30.00 foot radius on the South line of the trail easement boundary at the point marked as Point D on said Final
Plat;

Beginning at Point D as shown on said Final plat;thence S05°54'53"W, 272.82 feet to the beginning of a curve;
thence southerly,27.77 feet along said curve having a radius of 86.65 feet, concave to the east, a central angle of
18°21'44"and being subtended by a chord which bears SO4°54'13"E, 27.65 feet to a point of reverse curvature;
thence southerly, southwesterly and westerly 339.74 feet along said curve, concave to the
northwest, having a radius of 230.57 feet, a central angle of 84025'26"and being subtended by a chord which bears
S27°32'14"W, 309.83 feet to a point of reverse curvature;thence westerly and southwesterly 33.70 feet along said
curve, concave to the southeast, having a radius of 120.78 feet, a central angle of 15°59'10"and being subtended by
a chord which bears S64°57'58"W, 33.59 feet;thence S56°14'28"W, 11.22 feet to the beginning of a curve;thence
southwesterly,23.36 feet along said curve having a radius of 102.46 feet,concave to the northwest, a central angle

to Point E, as marked on said Final Plat, and the beginning of a curve;thence following the centerline of a 10.00 foot
wide strip, being situated 5.00 feet on each side of the following described centerline;thence southerly,

north, a central angle of 131°34'23"and being subtended by a chord which bears S77°11'26"W, 98.89 feet;thence
N38°55'08"W, 53.23 feet to the beginning of a curve;thence northwesterly, westerly and southwesterly, 413.24 feet
along said curve having a radius of 269.58 feet, concave to the south, a central angle of 87°49'47"and being
subtended by a chord which bears N81°00'21"W,373.95 feet;thence S52°25'25"W, 39.95 feet to the beginning of a
curve;thence southwesterly and westerly, 82.57 feet along said curve having a radius of 171.61 feet, concave to the
northwest, a central angle of 27°34'04"and being subtended by a chord which bears S67°18'00"W, 81.78 feet;
thence S86°12'05"W,46.85 feet to a point on the East line of Dotson Drive, and there terminating.
CONSERVATION EASEMENT:
A part of Outlot A, Ames Middle School 2003 and Lot 1, Ames Middle School 2003, Plat 2, both in the City of Ames,
Story County, Iowa, said part being more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at the Southwest Corner of the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of
Section 8,Township 83 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., City of Ames, Story County, Iowa, said point also being
the interior Corner of the Westerly line of said Outlot A;thence N89°08'08"W, 25.23 feet along the Northerly line of
said Outlot A to the point of beginning;thence S58°47'38"E, 252.74 feet;thence S81°52'59"E, 193.96 feet;thence
N65°22'06"E, 370.55 feet;thence S83°22'00"E, 594.42 feet;thence N30ol9'54"E, 730.94 feet;thence S85°01'06"E,
96.79 feet to the East line of said Lot 1;thence S00ol5'00"E, 192.50 feet along said line;thence N89040'17"W,
115.12 feet;thence S19°49'07"W, 568.91 feet;thence S42°55'38"W, 213.79 feet;thence N78°57'33"W,540.90 feet;
thence S70°28'12"W,386.72 feet;thence N84°46'31"W, 375.36 feet;thence N31°29'32"W,383.50 feet;thence
S89008'08"E, 121.26 feet to the point of beginning,containing 10.28 acres.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate pursuant to Iowa Code Section 297.22 to publish a Notice
of the proposed conveyance and of the hearing and to receive and consider objections and
petitions.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Ames
Community School District:
Section 1. That this Board shall set a public hearing on the conveyance of the
above-described Property for September 14, 2015,at the schedule School Board meeting
beginning at 6:30 pm., in the Ames High School Multipurpose Room located at 1921 Ames High
Drive, Ames, Iowa.
Section 2. That the Secretary is authorized and directed to prepare,publish, and
distribute the Notice of Hearing.
