RESOLUTION NO. 20-033
RESOLUTION APPROVING SALE OF PROPERTY AT
1417 DOUGLAS AVENUE TO MAINSTREAM LIVING,INC.
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,at the December 17,2019,City Council meeting,the City Council directed staff to proceed
with finalizing the terms and conditions(which will include language for a restrictive convent) for the sale of
the City-owned property located at 1417 Douglas Avenue to Mainstream Living in the amount of$36,012;and,
WHEREAS,in addition to the$36,012 purchase price,other major provisions of the sale and use of the
property are as follows:
1. Mainstream Living must construct a five-bedroom wheelchair accessible facility on or before
December 31,2020;
2. The City of Ames will retain ownership of the property until the specified structure is
constructed;
3. For a period of 21 years,the facility must be utilized for affordable housing for very-low-and
low-income adults with intellectual disabilities;
4. The facility cannot be sold, assigned or any interest transferred prior to December 31, 2041,
without the written consent of the City.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the sale
of the City-owned property located at 1417 Douglas Avenue to Mainstream Living, Inc., based on the above
terms and conditions,is hereby approved.
