RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TERMINATION OF THE HEALTHY LIFE
CENTER AGREEMENT WITH MARY GREELEY MEDICAL CENTER
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Ames had approved four Agreements with other entities regarding
the proposed Healthy Life Center; however, and the bond referendum held in September did not
receive enough votes to pass; and,
WHEREAS, the Agreements with Mary Greeley Medical Center, Story County, and
Heartland Senior Services all stated that they would terminate if the City failed to construct the
Healthy Life Center(HLC); and,
WHEREAS, since the bond issue did not pass,the Healthy Life Center will not be built and
a statement from both sides canceling the agreements needs to be made, so a record of termination
can be made; and,
WHEREAS, the Boards of all three entities will also be taking action to terminate the
Agreements; and,
WHEREAS, the fourth Healthy Life Center Agreement,with Iowa State University, is not
being terminated at this time,pending further discussions about the possibility of other potential joint
projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the termination of the Healthy Life Center Agreement with Mary Greeley Medical Center is
hereby approved.
