HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and Bond for Construction of 2018/19 Traffic Signal Program (U.S. Highway 30 Westbound Off-Ramp and South Dakota Avenue) RESOLUTION NO. 19-506 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2018/19 TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROGRAM (U.S.HIGHWAY 30 WESTBOUND OFF-RAMP AND SOUTH DAKOTA AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2018/19 Traffic Signal Program(U.S.Highway 30 Westbound Off-Ramp and South Dakota Avenue);and,pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 4t1i day of September, 2019, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 8th day of August, 2019; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Iowa Signal, Inc., of Grimes, Iowa,in the amount of$199,688.43 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames,Iowa, and Iowa Signal Inc., of Grimes, Iowa, in the amount of$199,688.43 dated the 10th day of September,2019,for the 2018/19 Traffic Signal Program (U.S. Highway 30 Westbound Off-Ramp and South Dakota Avenue) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said contractor with Old Republic Surety Company of Brookfield, Wisconsin, as surety thereon, in the amount of$199,688.43 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 24th day of September, 2019. sc_ )R -I fAa&- Diane R.
