HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Renewal of Contract for Power Plant Maintenance Services RESOLUTION NO. 19-319 RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF CONTRACT FOR POWER PLANT MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Electric Utility has two high-pressure steam generation units within the City's Power Plant,Units No.7 and 8,and these units require regular professional maintenance and repair; and, WHEREAS, this contract consists of both emergency and planned repairs and service; services include a large variety of boiler and pressure vessel maintenance and repairs,structural steel, pump and piping work, and other miscellaneous mechanical Power Plant work; and, WHEREAS,the repair ofthe equipment on these generation units requires professional trade crafts such as boilermakers, steam/pipe fitters and millwrights, and the crafts are certified to install and repair high-pressure vessel and piping systems and other apparatus of the generation units; and, WHEREAS, on September 11, 2018, City Council awarded a contract to TEI Construction Services,Inc.,of Duncan,South Carolina,for the Power Plant Maintenance Services to be furnished as requested from award date,through July 30,2019,and the original contract had the option for the City to renew in one-year increments for up to four additional years,and this is the first renewal out of four; and, WHEREAS, the rates which will be charged by TEI Construction Services, Inc., have increased by 3% for next year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that renewal of the contract with TEI Construction Services,Inc.,of Duncan,South Carolina,for the Power Plant Maintenance Services from July 1,2019,through June 30,2020,is hereby approved in an amount not to exceed$100,000.
