Home My WebLink About~Master - Renewal of Contract for Purchase of Electric Utility Poles RESOLUTION NO. 19-281 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR PURCHASE OF ELECTRIC UTILITY POLES, FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,on June 26,2018,City Council awarded a contract to Baldwin Pole&Piling,Inc., of Des Moines, Iowa, for purchase of Electric Distribution utility poles; and, WHEREAS, this contract is for the purchase of electric utility poles that are needed to meet the anticipated needs of the Electric Services Department for new construction and maintenance;and, WHEREAS,these utility poles will be purchased from an Electric Department inventory asset account and charged to the appropriate operations accounts as the poles are put into use; and, WHEREAS,the contract with Baldwin Pole&Piling includes a provision that allows the City to renew the contract for up to four additional one-year terms,and this contract is the first renewal out of four possible renewal periods,providing electric utility poles from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020; and, WHEREAS, there is no price increase with this contract renewal; and, WHEREAS,under this contract,poles would be purchased at the City's discretion which may be quarterly or on an as-needed basis, and provides the City with flexible inventory management and helps to reduce the need for storage; and, WHEREAS,there is no contract amount being authorized at this time,since payments will be made as these poles are purchased. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the contract renewal with Baldwin Pole & Piling Inc., of Des Moines, Iowa, for the purchase of Electric utility poles in accordance with unit prices is hereby approved.
