RESOLUTION NO. 19-185
RESOLUTION APPROVING SALE OF 1228 STAFFORD AVENUE
TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF CENTRAL IOWA
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds were used to
purchase a two-family home at 1228 Stafford Avenue as part of the Acquisition/Reuse Program; and,
WHEREAS, 1228 Stafford Avenue was purchased in 2015 for$124,000 and the structure was
rehabilitated, approximately $40,000, in anticipation to be sold as a rental housing for low income
households; and,
WHEREAS, several negotiations with rental housing providers were unsuccessful; however,
Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa(HHCI)approached staff with interest in purchasing the property
at 1228 Stafford Avenue; and,
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that
the sale of property located at 1228 Stafford Avenue to Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa in the
amount of$40.000 is hereby approved.
