HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 2018 Resource Recovery Annual Report RESOLUTION NO. 19-033 RESOLUTION APPROVING 2018 RESOURCE RECOVERY ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,a calendar year report is prepared annually for the Resource Recovery System, and based on this annual report, and in accordance with existing contracts,billings are prepared for the participating communities and Iowa State University; and, WHEREAS,revenues from all sources totaled$3,300,699,total expenses were$4,383,878, and this resulted in a net reduction of$1,083,179 for 2018; and, WHEREAS,the impact to the fund balance was the result of more frequent downtime in the Power Plant boilers,which results in a reduction of the incoming tonnage along with an associated loss in tipping fee revenue; and, WHEREAS,the continued boiler outages led to a reduction in the amount of RDF being sold to Electric Services and a corresponding loss in revenue as well as an increase in hauling costs for the rejects to the Boone landfill; and, WHEREAS, due to this reduction in revenue,the per capita fee will remain at$10.50; and, WHEREAS, due to the reduction in revenue,the tipping fee beginning on July 1,2019,will increase to $58.75/ton, while the car line rates remain at $10 for cars/passenger vans and $25 for pickups/trailers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the 2018 Resource Recovery Annual Report is hereby approved, and staff is authorized to distribute the report and to bill the participating communities and Iowa State University.
