HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street Closure of Northbound lane of Clark Avenue, new domestic water service and fire line at 602 Clark Avenue RESOLUTION NO. 18-585 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURE FOR WATER SERVICE ABANDONMENT AT 602 CLARK AVE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the building at 602 Clark Avenue has recently been demolished and the water service must be abandoned at the water main, which is located on Clark Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the Municipal Code requires that the City Council approves temporary closures of streets that are classified as arterials or active CyRide routes; and, WHEREAS, due to the location of the water main,the work will require the closure of the northbound lane of Clark Avenue for approximately two calendar days to safely accommodate the water service abandonment; and, WHEREAS, the contractor, Clouser Plumbing, has proposed to begin work on Tuesday, October 30, 2018; and, WHEREAS, vehicular and pedestrian access to the area residences and businesses will be maintained at all times; and, WHEREAS, CyRide was consulted and will re-route bus service during the lane closure by continuing the route east on 5t1i Street, north on Burnett Avenue, then west on Th Street to Clark Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the closure of the northbound lane of Clark Avenue to facilitate the abandonment of the water service at 602 Clark Avenue on October 30 and 31, 2018 is hereby approved.
