HomeMy WebLinkAboutA030 - Letter to Mayor and Council from Public Works Director dated July 17, 2002, certifying utilities and paving completion To: Mayor and City Council 0 L From: Keith D.Arneson Pinnacle Properties Ames LLC F E B 2 8 2012 Date: February 28, 2012 CITY CLERK CITY OF AMFS,IOWA Re: Intersection Improvement at Dotson and Lincoln Way Let this memo act as formal notification of my intent as the developer of the Nature's Crossing and South Fork Subdivisions to participate in the intersection improvements at Dotson and Lincoln Way. I have acquired the South Fork land over the past few years and understand my responsibility under the original developer's agreement to pay for half the stoplight and intersection improvement at Dotson and Lincoln Way with the support of the MOT grant. After discussions with the city staff it is understood that the$500,000 iDot grant money will be spent around July through September of 2013.The balance of the construction costs for these improvements will be divided equally between the City and Pinnacle Properties. While costs are not guaranteed, the city staff has estimated this expense to be approximately$71,045-$119,202 for each of us(beyond what the grant will cover). I am willing to bond for$71,045 with my submission of the sketch plan for the next addition to Nature's Crossing, which will be submitted early this spring. I believe this infill area has great potential. The neighbors surrounding this area were very supportive on the iDOT grant submission.Together we can revitalize this area and make a great neighborhood. Respectfully submitted: ran^N Keith D.Arneson Pinnacle Properties Ames LLC 4114 Cochrane Parkway Re: Letter to Council _. I'm glad that the estimated costs have come down and that you are now comfortable in moving forward. We are taking the IDOT grant agreement to City Council on Tuesday. However, in order to keep it on the agenda, Steve has asked that you send a letter stating your intention to move ahead with the project and cover your half of construction costs above the $500,000 grant. Please address it to "Mayor and City Council" and submit it to Diane Voss (City Clerk) by noon on Tuesday, February 28th. We will work out a formal agreement with you sometime early this spring. Thanks, John AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA John C. Joiner, P.E. City of Ames Public Works Director 515 Clark Avenue Ames, Iowa 50010 Desk 515-239-5165 Fax 515-239-5404
