RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
2007/2008 SHARED USE PATH SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS (BLOOMINGTON TO ADA
HAYDEN)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council and the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) have
heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City
of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2007/2008 Shared Use Path System
Improvements(Bloomington to Ada Hayden);and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received
on the day of 19`'day of June, 2018, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared
by the IDOT and filed with the City Clerk on the 22nd day of May, 2018; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Elder Corp. of Des Moines,
Iowa,in the amount of$385,000 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project;
and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been
executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and Eldor Corp.ofDes Moines,Iowa,
in the amount of$385,000 dated the 31 st day of July,2018,for the 2007/2008 Shared Use Path
System Improvements(Bloomington to Ada Hayden) as provided for in the detailed plans and
specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said
contractor with Merchants Bonding Company(Mutual)of Des Moines,Iowa,as surety thereon,
in the amount of$385,000 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 3 1" day of July, 2018.
