RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR 2016/17 CONCRETE
PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS (DAWES DRIVE FROM TOP-0-HOLLOW ROAD TO
CALHOUN AVENUE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
2016/17 Concrete Pavement Improvements (Dawes Drive from Top-O-Hollow Road to Calhoun
Avenue);and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 4'day of April,2018,as called
for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with
the City Clerk on the 27t' day of February, 2018; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct, Inc. of Ames,
Iowa, in the amount of$979,911.80 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said
project; and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been
executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and Con-Struct,Inc. of Ames,Iowa,
in the amount of$979,911.80 dated the 26t' day of April, 2018, for the 2016/17 Concrete
Pavement Improvements (Dawes Drive from Top-O-Hollow Road to Calhoun Avenue) as
provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the
performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company(Mutual) of Des
Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$979,911.80 filed in connection therewith,
be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 8th day of May, 2018.
