RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES AND
ENFORCEMENT,WAIVER OF FEES FOR ELECTRICAL AND WATER USAGE,AND
WAIVER OF FEE FOR BLANKET VENDING LICENSE
FOR SUMMERFEST IN CAMPUSTOWN
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) plans to hold its 8th annual
Summerfest on June 2, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, the event involves activities for children, live music, and a beer garden; and,
WHEREAS, organizers plan to close the 200 block of Welch Avenue from Chamberlain
Street to Hunt Street, and Chamberlain Street from Welch Avenue to the Chamberlain Lot Y exit
from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS,the CAA is requesting waiver of the parking meter fees and enforcement($180
loss to the Parking Fund) and the $50 fee for a blanket Vending License; and,
WHEREAS,the CAA is further requesting access to City-owned electrical outlets in the area,
as well as a waiver of the fees (approximately$5 loss of revenue) for electricity use; and,
WHEREAS, the CAA is further requesting access to water from Fire Station#2, as well
as a waiver of the fees (approximately$5 loss to the Fire Department) for water usage; and,
WHEREAS, Campustown Action Association's Summerfest has been a successful event,
and staff feels comfortable that it will continue to be successful this year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request from the Campustown Action Association to waive the parking meter fees,the $50
Vending Permit fee, and the fees for usage of electricity and water during Summerfest in
Campustown on June 2, 2018, is hereby approved.
