HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - ISU Homecoming Parade, approving usage and waiver of electrical fees and waiver of vending license fee RESOLUTION NO. 18-209 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF FEES FOR ELECTRICITY USAGE AND BLANKET VENDING LICENSE DURING THE ISU HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the Homecoming Central Committee at Iowa State University(ISU)is planning to host its annual Homecoming activities,which includes the hosting of a Downtown Homecoming Parade on October 21 as a kick-off to the activities; and, WHEREAS, the Homecoming Parade will take place at 2:00 p.m. on that date; and, WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, closure of the following streets and parking lots is requested from Noon until 4:00 p.m. on October 21: Pearle Avenue; Fifth Street from Grand Avenue to Douglas Avenue; Main Street/Northwestern Avenue from Fifth Street to Douglas Avenue; and, Clark Avenue, Burnett Avenue, Kellogg Avenue, and Douglas Avenue from Main Street to Fifth Street; and, City Hall Parking Lot MM, City Hall Parking Lot M, Depot Parking Lot TT; and, WHEREAS, organizers plan to have a variety of food trucks on the closed streets in the Downtown area and have requested that the fee for usage of electricity be waived; and, WHEREAS, a blanket Vending License is required and the planners are requesting that the $50 fee for a Vending License be waived; and, WHEREAS,the proposed parade this fall appears to be manageable,and staff has discussed minor logistical modifications to make the event even more successful. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the waiver of the fee for use of electricity and the waiver of the$50 Vending License fee during the ISU Homecoming Parade event on October 21, 2018, is hereby approved.
